In Denmark, it must be proved that the victim has been subjected to coercion, threats of violence or physical violence or was in a helpless state before a rape can be punished. In this claim, we require Denmark to have rape legislation that protects victims far better than today and lives up to the Council of Europe Convention on violence against women. Danish legislation must, therefore, be based on consent, that is, the basic principle that sex must be voluntary. So if It is not voluntary, it is a rape.
Sunday 25 was the UN International day of nonviolence against women, and it was holding a demonstration in support of a consent-based law on rape. About 50 people oppressed the biting cold and went from Vestre Landsret on Gabel’s Square down to Toldbod Plads. If the law is passed, it definitely encourages victims to come forward and that’s the beginning for a culture where women/trans/lgbt+, in general, get supported instead of blamed or discredited. Although it takes time for this to be achieved, the law legitimizes the need for consent and opens new dialogues. People at first need to understand why this is necessary and the culture of fear in which women and other vulnerable groups entail in the world. Also, for men who do experience rape, it is important that their voices also get heard and that we create a culture in which this can be possible without stigmatization. The police need to be trained more properly for such cases because there is a huge bias and they are not able to respond in a way that is safe for the victims. the taboo rape is one of them.
A new law would force more communication around such important issues. We (as a society) need to educate teenagers or kids in general about this, so schools should implement awareness talks about this. It needs to be normalized because it happens. Better counseling structures are also needed.
Amnesty International and 13 other organizations were calling for demonstrations in the country’s four largest cities as Copenhagen, Odense, Aarhus, and Aalborg.
The Justice Minister, Søren Pape Poulsen (K) has set up an expert group to look into the rape legislation.

El domingo 25 fue el día internacional de la ONU contra la violencia contra las mujeres, y se llevó a cabo una manifestación en apoyo de una ley de violación basada en el consentimiento.
En Dinamarca se debe demostrar que la víctima ha sido sometida a coerción, amenazas de violencia o violencia física o que se encontraba en un estado de indefensión antes de que se castigue a una violación. En este reclamo, exigimos que Dinamarca tenga una legislación sobre violaciones que proteja a las víctimas mucho mejor que hoy y cumpla con el Convenio del Consejo de Europa sobre la violencia contra las mujeres. Una nueva ley permitiría una mayor comunicación en torno a temas tan importantes. Nosotros (como sociedad) necesitamos educar a los adolescentes o niños en general sobre esto, por lo que las escuelas deben implementar charlas de conciencia sobre esto. Necesita ser normalizado, porque sucede. También se necesitan mejores estructuras de asesoramiento.
